About Lake Texoma
Lake Texoma is a large reservoir located on the border between Texas and Oklahoma, formed by the Denison Dam on the Red River. It's one of the largest reservoirs in the United States, with a surface area of around 89,000 acres and over 580 miles of shoreline.
Rivers Feeding It: Mainly the Red River and the Washita River.
Created: 1944, by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Purpose: Flood control, hydroelectric power, water supply, and recreation.
Famous for striped bass fishing (one of the few lakes in the U.S. with a self-sustaining population).
Lake Texoma also has Small and Largemouth Bass, Sandbass (White Bass), and a good population of Channel and Blue Catfish as well as Crappie.
